Paradise Garden

Published in 1971, Paradise Garden by Sidney Nolan, was a book of poems, drawings and paintings informed by memories of both the Australian desert flora and Sidney's 10 year relationship with Sunday Reid.

Exploring gendered responses to landscape, pages of the book were appropriated - painted over, and collaged with photographs of The Rodd farm and drawings to create a series of 37 multimedia works that obscured and revealed parts of the original pages and were titled using words from the poems, reimagined, to articulate meanings informed by memory and the new images.
